Capacity-Building Program for District Chiefs (CBPDC)

Why a program to build the capacity of district Chiefs!

The Capacity Building Program for District Chiefs (CBPDC) was conceived by SODEV International in 2021 to accompany the Capacity Building Program for Village Chiefs and Councilors (CBPVC) and other programs in favor of rural communities. It is imperative to strengthen the capacities of the District Chiefs (DC) to enable them to fulfill their functions and play their roles more effectively in order to better contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of their communities.
The CBPDC has two main objectives:

1. sensitize and train the district chiefs about:

  • administrative management and the notions of taking initiatives, management and leadership for good governance;
  • administrative management and the notions of taking initiatives, management and leadership for good governance;

2. provide training to district chiefs and build their capacity to implement and manage community development projects.

Socio-economic and cultural development in rural areas can only be successful with effective and active involvement of the communities concerned. To work effectively and efficiently, these communities need competent and well-equipped leaders and managers. However, in reality most district chiefs, who are the political superiors of the village chiefs, cannot fully perform their duties in a way that ensures sustainable development. SODEV International has created the CBPDC to assist them.

SODEV International is a non-political, non-governmental organization.
